The What & The Why
The Beauty Bear Pillow is one of the most popular beauty pillows on the market. Named the Beauty Bear because it kind of resembles the shape of a bear, this pillow is said to help fight wrinkles while you sleep.
Bad sleep posture is one of the main causes of premature aging and wrinkles. Having your face pushed into a pillow for eight hours a night, every night, really takes its toll on the skin. The sleep lines that used to disappear soon after you woke up start to take longer and longer to vanish until they become a permanent fixture on your face.
Sleeping on your back is one of the best ways to combat sleep wrinkles, both on your face and on your chest. The Beauty Bear Pillow helps you do just that. But some people just can’t get a good night’s rest laying on their back. In fact, more than half the population prefers to sleep on their side. Nurse Jamie knows this and so has created the Beauty Bear in a way that cradles the face of the side sleeper, so they can fight wrinkles in their sleep too.
How To Use The Beauty Bear
The Beauty Bear’s innovative design gives optimal lumbar support to the back sleeper with its cut out section that fits snugly around the base of the neck.
For side-sleepers, place the smaller ‘U’ shape on the side that you sleep. It supports the face across the forehead and the jawline, leaving the sensitive eye and cheek area suspended.

The Good
The best thing you can do to help keep your face wrinkle-free is to sleep on your back. The Beauty Bear Pillow makes it that much easier and more comfortable to do so. The large ‘U’ shape supports the neck and spine, keeping them in a neutral position.
Laying on your back also means that all those expensive night creams and wonder serums you’re slathering on before bed actually have time to sink into your skin, instead of being rubbed off into your pillow. And the fact that you’re not laying with your mouth and nose pushed into the pillow means you’re not breathing in dust and other allergens.
For side-sleepers, the face is cradled by the smaller ‘U’ shape, so it’s not pressed into the pillow. The skin on the cheeks is free, which keeps it smooth. This is a great feature that makes a big difference for people that suffer from redness or rosacea.
If you’re trying to sleep with eyelash extensions then this pillow will protect them as they won’t be pushing into it.
The pillowcase has a silky satin finish that is good for both skin and hair. If you’re used to waking up with bed hair you’ll be surprised a what a difference it makes. Cotton tends to draw moisture away from your skin and hair, leaving them dry. This pillowcase doesn’t do that. You’ll wake up with a silky, almost tangle-free mane and smooth skin.
The Beauty Bear makes a pretty good travel pillow too. It’s relatively small size means its easy to take away with you and perfect for a nap on the plane.
The pillowcase is zip-up. It’s simple to remove and replace, and can be washed in the machine on a delicate cycle. You can then put it in the tumble dryer on the low, fluff cycle or just leave it to dry outside – it doesn’t take very long. The pillow itself can be hand washed with a cloth and air-dried.
Pricewise, at $69 for the original and $79 for the memory foam, it’s actually quite reasonable when compared to other beauty pillows available on the market today. Extra pillowcases cost $19 each.
The Bad
The unusual shape means it can take a while to get used to sleeping with it. You may have a few restless nights while you’re adjusting to your new sleeping position.
Many people have complained that the smaller ‘U’ shape is only on one side and so they have to flip the pillow over every time they want to change sides during the night. Nurse Jamie has addressed this complaint by saying that the pillow would lose its integrity if both sides had the U-shape cut out.
Another problem is the size. Some say its just too small compared to a normal pillow and that their head sticks out over the top when laying on their back. Nurse Jamie says that the pillow, including the negative space is sized perfectly so that you aren’t moving it about or scrunching it up as you would a normal pillow. She has recently brought out a slightly bigger version, though.
The original pillow does tend to flatten out after a few months and loses some of that essential support. It feels like the stuffing has broken down a bit inside. There is a memory foam version availablee now.
There was one complaint, specifically about the midnight grey pillowcase. One lady said that the dye came out on her skin and hair during the night. Whether this was one faulty product or a person misusing the pillow is hard to say. There have been no other complaints of this type.
Original vs Memory foam
The memory foam version of the Beauty Bear comes in a slightly larger size than the original – 22″ x 11″ (56cm x 28cm) instead of 18″ x 9″ (46cm x 23cm).
It moulds to the shape of the head and holds its shape better than the original, keeping good support in that side ‘U’.
It is firmer and a bit higher than the original. If you are particularly petite or prefer a low pillow then the memory foam version may be a bit high for you.
The Beauty Bear Age Delay Pillow – Is It Worth It?
The answer has to be a resounding YES! After the initial ‘getting used to it’ period almost everyone loves this pillow. It really does make a difference to the way you sleep and to your sleep wrinkles. Women who have been sleeping with it for a while say they wouldn’t want to use any other pillow now.
Its size and the fact that the pillowcases can be machine washed make it practical and great for travel.
It’s definitely worth its price tag. The memory foam version is more durable and long-lasting so it’s even greater value.
The pillowcases come in:
- MidnightGrey, which is basically black
- White
- Purple
- Leopard Print
- Union Jack, a limited addition

Thank you for this review. I have never thought that pillows are one of the reasons why people have wrinkles. I will definitely try to change my pillow after reading this review on Beauty Bear Age Delay Pillow. Also, I suffer with back pain, so it seems I have just found the perfect solution to two of my problems.
Many thanks,
Yoana
Yes, it’s not something you really think about when you’re young but as the lines start appearing and taking longer to disappear in the morning you start to pay more attention. Sleep wrinkles are a right pain, and if there’s something that can be done to help avoid them then I think it’s worth doing. Thanks for your comment x
This pillow with an opening so your face does not touch the pillow is an awesome idea. Thank you for pointing out the pros and cons. As with any new product on the market – there will be things to improve. Your website has given the cons and what to expect. I believe the pros out weigh the cons and it is worth a try.
Thank you, yes I’m of the same opinion as you. It’s definitely worth a try. It’s actually been on the market quite a few years now and has had some modifications along the way to make it better. If it helps reduce sleep wrinkles I’m all in.
